For future reference

Last night The Friend and I were out at happy hour with his roommate and some other mutual friends. We were picking on each other like we often do, when someone turned to us and said “Geez… so when’s the wedding?”
Apparently this is a very effective way to make The Friend shut up. I shall have to remember this technique.

She was implying that we squabble like a married couple. Which I find to be a ridiculous stereotype, but whatever.

I used to do that with my college advisor, who was 30 years my senior. (And who, in the interest of full disclosure and because _some_ people out there may have engaged in making out or more with their professors I wish to state that I had NO physical relationship with.) Sometimes the people whose sentences you can finish aren’t actually the best matches. I mean, if your best female friend was a guy instead, would you want to bang her? ‘Cause I definitely say no.
